George Reynolds and Eugene Woods, are Grand Masters in martial arts with over 96 years of combined experience, opened Detroit Martial Arts Institute in Detroit in 2004. At 7,500 square feet, it is one of the largest martial arts gyms (dojos) in Detroit and houses instruction facilities for kids, teens, adults and those with special needs.
Detroit Martial Arts Institute also offers a state-of-the-art after-school program in 3,000 square feet of the facility. Over the years, Detroit Martial Arts Institute has become a cornerstone for the community by providing licensed after-school programming during the school year, various camps throughout the summer, and is a meet-up and meal location for kids.
Detroit Martial arts Institute is open year-round to assist parents in providing a safe, secure place for their children to go while they are at work or in school.
